Belc Expanded Deployment of "Armo" to 10 Stores

Demonstration Video on Store Operations Published -

Tokyo, Japan – February 5, 2025 – MUSE Inc. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Yasutaka Kasagi) has developed the store robot "Armo One" (hereinafter referred to as "Armo"). The latest version of Armo has now been introduced at 10 stores operated by Belc Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Tsurugashima City, Saitama Prefecture; President: Issei Harashima) in Saitama and Gunma Prefectures. The deployment initially began at two stores, Wako Nishi-Yamato and Kita Sakado, in June 2024. Following successful results, operations at the remaining eight stores will commence from February 2025.

This expansion was made possible due to the robot exceeding expectations in its initial store trials.

We have released a video for Armo store operations at Belc.

About Armo

Armo is a platform that integrates robotics with in-store data to simultaneously address labor shortages and optimize retail operations. By switching modular units, Armo can perform multiple tasks, such as transportation for stocking shelves and capturing shelf images, all with a single robot. Additionally, data collected by Armo is stored in the cloud-based "Eureka Platform," allowing retailers and brands to access real-time insights on shelf conditions, out-of-stock items, and planogram discrepancies. This helps streamline store operations and optimize shelf layouts.

As a result, stores can reduce shelf-stocking labor by up to 30%, and by leveraging Armo’s multi-functional capabilities, achieve up to 5 times the return on investment (ROI).

Comment from Harada, Director and Head of System Reform Department, Belc

"Since June 2023, we have been testing the store robot 'Armo' with the goal of reducing the burden of stocking and transporting goods—challenges that are common in the retail industry. This initiative is not only a countermeasure against increasing labor shortages and rising wages but also aims to create a more comfortable working environment for store staff. Through these improvements, we strive to build stores and sales floors that attract even more customers.

In June 2024, we selected two stores to test and refine the system. The results exceeded our initial expectations, as Armo was smoothly integrated into store operations while ensuring safety. Based on these outcomes, we have expanded the deployment to 10 stores. Currently, Armo is primarily used for shelf-stocking tasks, but we plan to explore broader applications such as visualizing shelf images and supporting promotional activities in collaboration with MUSE."
